Unreal Engine 4: First Steps with the Game Engine

Unreal Engine 4 is the reference game engine for the AAA video game industry: physically-based rendering, flexible material and visual effects editors, extensive animation toolset, complete C++ source code access, designer-friendly Blueprint visual scripting, scalable and proven client/server architecture, support for PC, console, mobile, VR, AR, and a lot more. The workshop will introduce Unreal Engine 4 walking through its main features, while creating a small game from scratch, explaining the basics of the platform, leveraging the Blueprints visual scripting system, developing UIs with UMG, etc.

Basic concepts of programming are required. Participants are invited to bring a laptop with Unreal Engine 4 installed (free: https://www.unrealengine.com/).

Daniele Benegiamo is an adjunct professor at the Electrical, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering and Naval Architecture Department (DITEN) and owner of UNAmedia, a studio that specializes in interactive digital media, mobile apps and video games using Unreal Engine 4 and Virtual Reality technologies. He works in the video game industry since 1994.
